Training Programs Manager

We are seeking a highly organized, innovative, and skilled Training Programs Manager to join AI4I – The Italian Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence for Industry.
AI4I performs transformative, application-oriented research in Artificial Intelligence, driving the integration of AI into industrial processes, products, and services across Italy’s manufacturing, aerospace, and automotive sectors.

Role Mission
In this role, you will design, manage, and orchestrate AI-focused training programs developed in collaboration with corporates, trade associations, universities, and innovation hubs. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality, industry-relevant programs that translate AI knowledge into practical skills through structured curricula and advanced, on-demand courses.
Main Responsibilities
- End-to-end instructional design: needs analysis, definition of learning objectives, module design (live, blended, e-learning, microlearning), teaching materials, and industrial use cases
- Innovate training formats using real use cases, simulations, and learning experience platforms
- Co-design and delivery of training initiatives in collaboration with partner organizations (corporates, trade associations, universities, innovation hubs).
- Coordination with external partners for the development of joint modules, case studies, and demonstration projects tailored to industry challenges.
- Plan, organize, and deliver training programs and events across Italy, including scheduling, coordination of instructors and speakers (internal R&D and external), management of classrooms/labs and logistics, use of LMS platforms, and supervision of assessments and certifications, targeting diverse audiences (different roles, levels, and organizations). Support the selection of the most suitable trainers for each course, and supervise the quality and consistency of training content to ensure alignment with program objectives and best-in-class standards
- Development of advanced, on-demand and customized training programs for SMEs, corporates, and institutions, ensuring flexibility and alignment with specific industry needs.
- Facilitation of knowledge transfer, certification programs, and dissemination of best practices across the network
- Plan and coordinate ‘train-the-trainers’ programs in collaboration with the AI Gates, to expand training capacity and reach more end-users
- Contribute to the definition of professional profiles (e.g., supercomputing and data management professionals) for qualification and certification purposes
- Stakeholder management: interface with Personnel/HR (training plans and skills), Business Development (offers and course catalogue), External Communication (campaigns and outreach), Project Management/PMO (timelines, budget, reporting), R&D (translation of research results into training content), and customers/SMEs.
- Compliance: documentation and reporting management for funded projects (attendance records, timesheets, cost eligibility).
- Content management: updated repository of slides, handbooks, exercises, demonstration datasets; curation of industrial cases.
- Training go-to-market: support pricing and packaging definition; contribution to proposals for European/national tenders and commercial training offers;
- Build and maintain partnerships and networks with firms, trade associations, universities, clusters, and innovation hubs to maximize program outreach and impact
Support internal training activities for AI4I employees, fostering continuous learning and upskilling in AI and related fields
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM, Economics/Management, Education Sciences, or related fields.
- 4–7 years in the design and management of B2B training initiatives or technology transfer, including at least 2 years on data/AI or Industry 4.0 topics.
- Experience in designing and delivering training programs for diverse audiences (different roles, organizational levels, and sectors)
- Operational experience with LMS (e.g., Moodle, Docebo, or similar), authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, Rise, H5P), and collaborative tools.
- Basic knowledge of the main areas of AI/ML applied to industry (vision, NLP, forecasting, optimization, quality control) and production processes.
- Ability to support internal training initiatives aimed at employee upskilling and continuous learning
- Italian and English at least C1 level, excellent writing skills and ease of public speaking.
Preferred Requirements (Nice to Have)
- Experience with SMEs and local networks (associations, clusters, chambers of commerce).
- Familiarity with regulatory and transversal topics such as AI governance, trustworthy and ethical AI, data management, and cybersecurity
- Experience in reporting on funded projects (Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, ERDF/ESF, PNRR).

- Strong communication and facilitation skills in the classroom and online.
- Empathy and adult-centered design, storytelling, and use of real-life cases.
- Organization and attention to detail; priority management in multi-project contexts.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and train novel generative models for 3D metamaterials.
- Investigate potential solutions to embed mechanical and physical constraints into learning-based design workflows.
- Collaborate on simulation pipelines (finite element and reduced order models).
- Lead prototyping and experimental validation in collaboration with partner labs (UC Berkeley, Polytechnic of Milan).
