At the recent Future Urban Trends 2025, held on March 21 at OGR Tech in Turin, AI4I took part in a dynamic conversation on the future of cities and the transformative role of artificial intelligence. Representing the initiative, Fiorenza Succu, Business Development Manager at AI4I, joined a panel of experts to share her vision for building flexible AI ecosystems that drive real-world impact.
In her talk, Succu introduced the concept of System User Knowledge (SUK) — a name that recalls the vibrant and adaptive nature of the traditional Arab souk. Much like a marketplace of ideas, SUK aims to be a dynamic intersection of needs, solutions, and ongoing negotiation between research and application. At its core is the ambition to turn applied AI research into a true engine of economic and social growth.

From AI4I’s perspective, one of the most promising arenas for AI application is urban innovation. Succu highlighted key areas where AI is already making a difference:
- Mobility and transport, through real-time data analysis and dynamic traffic management
- Energy efficiency, via smart grids and adaptive consumption models
- Waste management, with predictive algorithms that optimize collection routes and reduce costs
Beyond efficiency, Succu emphasized AI’s potential to foster inclusivity and equity in cities — from accessible mobility solutions to AI-powered urban safety systems and smarter emergency response logistics.
As cities evolve, AI4I remains committed to cultivating an open, connected, and adaptive ecosystem — where innovation serves not only progress, but people.
