The session featured Fabio Pammolli, President of AI4I, and Greta Radaelli, Senior Vice President Innovation & Digital at Leonardo. The dialogue addressed the role of advanced cognitive solutions in today’s technological landscape, from industrial and defense applications to the broader challenges of digital transformation.

Pammolli highlighted the mission of AI4I: “Our role is to promote AI solutions for industry, connecting research with business applications and ensuring that innovation becomes a driver of sovereignty and growth.”

Radaelli illustrated Leonardo’s trajectory as a digital-intensive company, with artificial intelligence at the core of its strategy across multiple domains—from aerospace to security to unmanned systems—and emphasized the importance of innovation labs and centers of excellence.

The panel also touched on geopolitics and sovereignty, noting how supercomputing power and the ability to develop reliable AI are becoming critical assets for Europe. As Pammolli remarked, Italy already ranks among the top countries worldwide for computing capacity, a strategic advantage that must be recognized and leveraged.
