At the May 27th session of Fabbrica ItalIA— RCS Academy’s traveling initiative focused on digital transformation and AI adoption across Italian businesses—industry leaders gathered for a high-level roundtable dedicated to education and artificial intelligence.

The panel, titled “Boosting AI Skills: Partnerships Among National Research Centers, Universities, and Industry for Advanced Training,” featured a keynote contribution from AI4I President, Fabio Pammolli.
Pammolli drew a powerful parallel to Italy’s industrial history: the global success of the nation’s machine tool industry in past decades was fueled by a widespread, elite network of technical expertise. Today, we face the exact same challenge. We urgently need high-caliber educational pathways and a major expansion of higher technical institutes (ITS) to train the professionals who will power tomorrow’s “intelligence hubs.”

“This is a race Italy cannot afford to lose. Regional initiatives like the Forgia project in Milan are a major step in the right direction.”— Fabio Pammolli
