AI4I Description
Headquartered in Turin, the Italian Center for Artificial Intelligence plays a key role in research and dissemination of applied AI techniques and methodologies in various productive sectors, starting with automotive and aerospace.
The Institute aims to create an integrated research and innovation infrastructure that, thanks to investments from public and private partners, can develop knowledge and expertise on AI, expanding the Institute areas of activity to other industries, from advanced mechanics to healthcare, to financial and insurance services.
Responsibilities
- Assessment of Organizational Structures, Processes and Strategies, with particular reference to sustainability analysis profiles, benchmarking, and risk assessment;
- Analytics and Intelligence to support the evaluation of the Foundation’s allocative choices and strategic decisions, including the selection of Principal Investigators and the performance of activated research units;
- Study applied to the continuous updating and refinement of tools and frameworks used in activities under the direct responsibility of the function.
- Support to the strategic planning, through the construction of benchmarking indicators and analysis of risk profiles referring to the presence of competitors;
- Support for financial control;
- Support for project management activities;
Main stakeholders
- The role plays a central role in the initiation of activities and the growth and structuring phase of the Institute activities, having to interact with all the main administrative and scientific functions and being an essential and unbiased information transfer hub between the strategic and operational levels of the Institute and the Supervisory Bodies.
- The role supports the evaluation of strategic decisions, from a perspective of systematic risk analysis and cost-benefit assessment, with the ability of assessing the impact of actions and targets.
- The construction of KPIs, targets and milestones should support the creation of integrated scoreboards for the performance evaluation of the Institute different research units, supporting the evaluation activities of the Scientific Committee and the Supervisory Board, with constant monitoring and assessment of the risk-return profile of the different units.
- The activities of evaluating the Institute research portfolio and its evolution over time, from the stage of selection of the Institute Principal Investigators, will form the basis for systematic risk analysis, supporting the financial planning functions and the development of processes and staff incentive schemes.
- The selected person will be responsible for generating analysis and other information support for institutional relations activities, with reference to impact evaluations, in consultation with the communications officer.
Ideal Profile
- The ideal candidate is a young professional with proven experience in the areas of strategic planning, development and management of scientific and technological research activities, and analysis of business processes, with appreciable and effective professional experience gained at universities, research centers or other entities/companies with significant resources employed in research, development and innovation.
- The selected person must be able to generate: (i) analyses and cost-benefit assessments about the Foundation’s various activities and the strategic plan prepared by the Director; (ii) reports to support the assessment of the financial and strategic sustainability of the Foundation’s activities, with particular reference to positioning analyses and the different dimensions relevant to measuring the impact of the activities of the research units that make up the Foundation; (iii) executive dashboards of KPIs, targets and milestones for the research projects carried out by the Institute.
- The selected person will also need to possess the skills to be supportive of the drafting of financial planning documents such as the budget and the mid- and long-term sustainability plan.
- Brilliant graduate in Management Engineering, Economics and Business Management, and related areas. Holding degrees such as a PhD and/or master’s degree in business administration/industrial engineering/data science will be considered a plus.
Key Competencies
- Knowledge of the mechanisms of operation of research institutions, preferably following logic attributable to the private sector and research foundations.
- Full and autonomous proficiency in managing performance reviews in general and ex-ante and ex-post evaluation of strategies and processes.
- Full and autonomous proficiency in data analysis, business intelligence, data visualization and report generation for leadership and oversight bodies.
