Head of Business Development

We are looking for a highly experienced professional with strong business acumen, a deep understanding of AI applications, and a proven track record in building innovation-driven partnerships — ideally in sectors such as advanced manufacturing, engineering, automotive or aerospace.

Role Overview
The Head of Business Development will be responsible for shaping, guiding and executing the Institute’s relationships with the industrial world, with a focus on positioning the Institute as a key partner in the field of applied artificial intelligence and attracting R&D agreements. The role encompasses:

  • market monitoring
  • strategic relationship-building
  • definition of technology transfer and collaborative R&D agreements
  • pursuit of strategic funding opportunities.

The Head of Business Development will act as the primary interface between the Institute’s scientific capabilities and the needs of industrial partners, ensuring that collaborations are designed based on the real demands and strategic objectives of the companies involved.

The Head of Business Development reports directly to the Director.

Location
The role is based in Turin (OGR-Tech), with significant flexibility and availability for national and international travel.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate is an experienced professional with:

  • a master degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Economics (or related fields)
  • a strong understanding of artificial intelligence applications
  • a minimum of eight to ten years’ experience in business development or strategic partnership roles, preferably within the technology, engineering automotive, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing sectors, as well as prior exposure to applied research environments.

What distinguishes the ideal candidate is the ability to combine a deep technical understanding of AI with a strong business acumen, acting as bridge between senior researchers and industry leaders.

Having a PhD or a master’s in business and administration (MBA) is considered a plus.
Experience of the European research funding ecosystem is a plus.

Fluency in English and Italian is required; knowledge of other languages will be considered a plus.
